Mizoram reported 467 new COVID-19 cases and three more fatalities in the last 24 hours, pushing the state’s Covid-19 tally to 48,462 and death toll to 180, a health department official said.
He said that three people aged between 40 and 83 years have succumbed to the infection at Zoram Medical College (ZMC) within 13 hours between Saturday and Sunday.
According to the official, the 467 cases detected from 8,772 samples put the single-day positivity rate at 5.23 per cent.
24 new cases were confirmed at an RT-PCR laboratory in Zoram Medical College(ZMC), 400 were detected through Rapid Antigen Test from various districts, 35 cases through TrueNat tests and 8 cases were detected through Fluorescent Immunoassay (FIA) tests, he said.
The fresh cases were reported from various districts with Aizawl reporting the highest at 209, followed by Kolasib at 78 and Siaha district at 43, he said.
About 93 children, 7 policemen, 3 healthcare workers and 10 inmates of a rehabilitation centre in Aizawl were among the newly infected people, he said.
Of the 467 patients, 274 have developed symptoms of Covid-19, he said.
The number of Covid-19 active cases now stands at 10,656 and 37,626 people have recovered from the infection, including 947 on Saturday, according to the official.
The recovery rate among Covid-19 patients is 77.64 per cent and the death rate is 0.37 per cent, he said.
Mizoram has tested more than 7.33 lakh samples for Covid-19 to date.
According to state immunisation officer Dr Lalzawmi, over 6.45 lakh people have been vaccinated, of which 2.18 lakh people have received a full dose of the Covid-19 vaccine till Saturday.
