The University of Science and Technology Meghalaya (USTM) will celebrate its Founder’s Day on 30 November 2024 by hosting the OneNorthEast-1.0 Music Festival, a gathering of eight bands representing the eight northeastern states of India. The event, centred around the themes of love, peace, and harmony, aims to promote cultural integration across the region.
Organised by Mawjam Event Network, Shillong, under the initiative of musician Dr Lou Majaw, the festival will feature performances by The Eternal Triangle (Assam), Techi (Arunachal Pradesh), Even Flow (Mizoram), Roll Heads (Sikkim), Rewben Mashangva (Manipur), Aseno Metha (Nagaland), Pillow Records (Tripura), and Lou Majaw and The Electric Garden (Meghalaya). The festival is scheduled to start at 4 PM at the USTM campus ground and is open to the public.
USTM Chancellor Mahbubul Hoque highlighted the cultural significance of the event, stating, “Culture has the unique power to connect people. At a time when harmonious integration is crucial for the northeastern states, we are pleased to host this festival. Our gratitude goes to Dr Lou Majaw for selecting USTM as the venue for this meaningful initiative.”
