Shillong: The Garo Students Union(GSU), Khasi Hills Zone, has called for an investigation into disturbing reports from the Ranikor CHC after victims of an accident were brought in for treatment on October 1.
In its complaint to the Director of Health Services in Shillong, the union highlighted instances of alleged negligence by doctors and medical staff, raising concerns over the quality of care provided.
One alarming claim was that a sweeper was seen dressing the wounds of accident victims, which the union pointed out as a violation of medical protocols. This incident raises serious questions about the lack of qualified personnel handling critical care procedures.
The union also alleged that ambulance services were denied to the victims, forcing them to wait for one to arrive from Khonjoy, 40 kilometers away. Additionally, a pregnant woman reportedly suffered neglect, resulting in her water breaking while she awaited a sonography test.
The GSU urged authorities to investigate these claims and take appropriate action against those responsible for the alleged negligence.
