Shillong: BDR Tiwari, the Chief Electoral Officer of Meghalaya, expressed contentment with the preparations made at the counting center ahead of the Lok Sabha Elections counting day.
The counting for the Lok Sabha Elections is scheduled to take place tomorrow at 13 counting centers spread across Meghalaya, covering its two Parliamentary Seats.
This includes 8 counting centers for the Shillong Parliamentary Constituency and 5 for the Tura Parliamentary Constituency. Notably, counting will be conducted at all 12 districts, including Sohra Civil Subdivision.
Tiwari assured that all necessary arrangements have been made for counting Assembly Constituency (AC) segments and postal ballots.
“By afternoon we can expect results to be declared. The Deputy Commissioner (DC) has already assessed the situation and all needful arrangements for peaceful counting and after declaration of result to ensure there is no untoward incident. All measures have been taken so far found no such probability in our state, Meghalaya is a peace-loving state so hope counting also, and post counting will be done smoothly,” said Tiwari.

Accompanied by the Chief Secretary, Tiwari and the Returning Officer inspected the counting center at Polo Ground and commended the department for their commendable arrangements.
“Even though places like in Shillong we have 15 Assembly segments for the counting as well as postal ballots, but we’re not having permanent buildings, so makeshift arrangements are there which is rainproof. Entries for polling personnel, officials, counting agents, media center and other arrangements have been properly arranged,” added the CEO.
