Guwahati: The Meghalaya Industrial Development Corporation Ltd. (MIDC) announced its recent attainment of ISO 9001:2015 and ISO 14001:2015 certifications, marking a significant milestone in its pursuit of excellence in quality management and environmental sustainability.

MIDC stands as the sole state Public Sector Undertaking (PSU) in Meghalaya to receive both prestigious certifications, reaffirming its dedication to upholding international standards across its operations.

The dual certification highlights MIDC’s unwavering commitment to delivering high-quality services while minimizing its environmental footprint.

With the ISO 9001:2015 certification, MIDC’s Quality Management System (QMS) is recognized for its ability to ensure excellence in plot allotment, loan processing for homes and businesses, and building construction.

This certification serves as a testament to MIDC’s relentless pursuit of continuous improvement and adherence to global benchmarks.

Similarly, the ISO 14001:2015 certification reflects MIDC’s prioritisation of environmental responsibility. By adhering to ISO’s stringent requirements for Environmental Management Systems (EMS), MIDC demonstrates its commitment to reducing environmental impact and promoting sustainable practices in its operations.

Expressing his pride in MIDC’s achievement, James P. K Sangma, Chairman of MIDC, emphasised the Corporation’s commitment to quality and environmental sustainability.

He remarked, “As one of the oldest corporations in Meghalaya, I, along with my team, felt the need to pursue the ISO certifications to demonstrate the Corporation’s commitment to quality and environmental sustainability. I’m delighted that our efforts have led to this significant milestone. We’re dedicated to maintaining high standards and continuously seeking ways to improve our services while reducing our environmental impact.”

He added, “Since I became Chairman about a year ago, we’ve expanded our focus beyond our original mandate, exploring new projects and schemes to strengthen the industrial and economic development of Meghalaya.”
