Shillong: Dr. Mazel Ampareen Lyngdoh, the seasoned politician and incumbent MLA of East Shillong Constituency, expressed optimism as she cast her vote in the Shillong Parliamentary Seat elections. This marks her first foray into MP elections, a departure from her previous successes in assembly elections. Dr. Lyngdoh, the sole female candidate from the seat, has been actively campaigning across the 36 constituencies, alongside her team.
The National People’s Party (NPP) has fielded two female candidates, Dr. Mazel Ampareen and sitting MP Agatha Sangma, reflecting a significant presence of women in the electoral fray.
Despite varying opinions about the incumbent government, Dr. Lyngdoh received widespread support and respect during her campaign, which she found encouraging.
Addressing concerns about the aggressive tone of the elections in Meghalaya, Dr. Lyngdoh criticized certain political players for adopting negative tactics and lacking mutual respect. She highlighted the importance of combating such negativity and restoring a culture of mutual respect in the state’s political landscape.
Confident in her team’s efforts and party coordination, Dr. Lyngdoh believes that their proactive approach will yield positive results. She emphasized the collective effort of party members in countering divisive politics and expressed hope for a successful outcome in the MP elections.
