Shillong: East Khasi Hills Superintendent of Police (SP) Rituraj Ravi, on Wednesday, informed that meticulous arrangements have been made across Shillong city and East Khasi Hills District as the silent period commenced ahead of the elections.
With confidence in the upcoming electoral process, SP Ravi assured the public of a free, fair, and peaceful election.
Security measures include a three-tier security setup at the strong room and separate arrangements for Polling Stations (PS), categorised based on vulnerability.
“We have 8 companies of CAPF which have been deployed for different roles like strong room duty, polling station duty, area domination and we are also conducting flag marches and road marches to instill confidence and a sense of security among the citizens,” informed Ravi.

But to keep doing this work, we need you. Your small contribution helps us pay our reporters fairly, reach places others ignore, and keep asking the tough questions.
If you believe the Northeast deserves its own fearless voice, stand with us.

Pre-poll measures encompass a multifaceted approach, with Flying Squad Teams (FST) and Static Surveillance Teams (SST) engaged in continuous 24-hour monitoring of campaigning activities.
Moreover, all police stations are conducting round-the-clock checks and vehicle inspections to prevent any untoward incidents or violations of the Election Commission of India’s (ECI) Model Code of Conduct (MCC).
