Shillong: In a bid to strengthen healthcare delivery in Meghalaya, Minister for Animal Husbandry and Veterinary, AL Hek, inaugurated ARHI hospital. This hospital aims to serve people of Mawsmai, Jorabat, and the wider Northeast region.
Local MLA Sosthenes Sohtun, former DHS Dr. Aman Warr, and the Board members of ARHI witnessed the inauguration of the Outpatient Department (OPD).
Strategically chosen, the hospital stands opposite the North East Cancer Hospital. It is slated to become a fully functional multi-specialty facility in the coming months. Currently, around 32-35 specialists have been recruited, with plans to expand the medical team to approximately a hundred doctors. The hospital also boasts a team of nearly 300 nurses and medical technicians, drawn not only from Meghalaya but also from Assam and other Northeastern states.
Dr. Feroze, a specialist at ARHI and a board member, described it as a super specialty tertiary care hospital, featuring centers of excellence such as advanced Cancer, Cardiac, and Neurology units.
Dr. Sandeep emphasized the unity among specialists from various fields, all driven by a common goal of providing exemplary healthcare. He urged specialists from both within and outside the Northeast to join hands in achieving this objective.
Neurosurgeon Dr. Simranjeet Singh highlighted the collective aim of each department to excel for the benefit of patients, striving to surpass existing standards of care.
Cardiac specialist Dr. Bikash Rai Das announced a groundbreaking feature of ARHI – the first private setup in Meghalaya capable of conducting all types of heart surgeries. This eliminates the need for patients and their families to travel to other cities like Mumbai or Delhi for such procedures, providing comprehensive cardiac care locally.
