Peace key to Manipur’s progress, says Dy CM Losii Dikho amid unrest

Imphal: Manipur Deputy Chief Minister Losii Dikho called for unity and peaceful coexistence among communities in the state, stressing that lasting peace is key to unlocking the state’s vast natural and human potential.

The Deputy CM made this remark during the launch programme of the 7th State Level Media Fellowship on Climate Change Reporting, 2026-27 on Monday at the Minister’s Block, Civil Secretariat, Mantripukhri in Imphal East.

Highlighting the natural beauty of the state, with its vast lands, abundant resources, and diverse people in both hills and valley, Deputy CM Dikho remarked that God must have taken great care and time when creating Manipur. However, he lamented that despite these abundant blessings, people in the state continue to struggle to live peacefully among communities.

“God has created our state beautifully, blessing us with the magnificent Loktak Lake, the rare Saingai deer, the unique Shirui Lily and many other natural wonders. Our people are dynamic, enriched by diverse and vibrant cultures. Yet, what we lack is the ability to live in peace. This remains our greatest challenge. The only way to overcome this is to love one another,” said the Deputy CM Dikho.

He further emphasised that with stability and peace in the state, we can transform our lives to resemble heaven on earth, a vision that should inspire our collective aspirations.

The Deputy Chief Minister urged the public to educate the younger generations on the importance of living in peace and to spread the message of unity as the foundation for lasting solutions and enduring peace in the state.

Deputy Chief Minister Dikho also commended media personnel for their dedicated efforts in highlighting the core issues, including matters related to climate and environment, to the public.
