Churachandpur: Manipur Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla visited Churachandpur district on Tuesday to review development efforts and assess the ongoing security measures in the region.

Accompanied by the First Lady, Governor Bhalla visited the Pre-Fabricated Resettlement Camp in Torbung, where he interacted with Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs). He inaugurated a newly constructed Crèche Centre and distributed relief materials to the camp residents.

During the visit, the Governor felicitated two students from the camp who cleared NEET 2025, along with other meritorious students. He wished them success in their future pursuits.

Members of the Kuki Students’ Organisation and local village chiefs submitted memoranda requesting infrastructure development, including the construction of a multipurpose hall in the area.

At a separate meeting held at the Deputy Commissioner’s office, the Governor held interactive sessions with local MLAs, civil society representatives, and student leaders. The Kuki-Zo Council submitted a memorandum highlighting concerns in education, governance, and connectivity, and urged the Governor to take steps for the welfare of the community.

Leaders of the Zomi Council also met with the Governor to discuss issues related to IDP resettlement and welfare. The Governor assured them that their concerns would be looked into.

Later, the Governor reviewed the district’s security situation at the headquarters of 27 Sector Assam Rifles. Brigadier S. Prashanth presented a detailed briefing. The meeting was attended by Director General of Assam Rifles Lt. General Vikas Lakhera, IG AR (South) Maj. General Ravroop Singh, IGP Kabib K., and other senior police and military officials.

In the evening, the Governor visited Geljang Resort, where he was welcomed by the village chief and treated to a traditional Mizo cultural performance.
