Bishnupur: Deputy Commissioner of Bishnupur district, Pooja Elangbam, chaired a District Level Security Coordination Committee meeting on Wednesday at the Conference Hall of the Mini Secretariat Complex to discuss key security and administrative concerns.
The meeting centered on two major agendas: ensuring peaceful cultivation during the ongoing kharif season and accelerating the phased resettlement of Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs).
In her address, DC Pooja Elangbam underlined the critical importance of agriculture to Bishnupur’s economy. “As an agrarian district, it is essential that farming activities continue peacefully and without disruption,” she said. To facilitate this, flying squads comprising key stakeholders have been deployed to maintain peace in fringe agricultural areas.
She also called on all present officers to remain vigilant and respond swiftly and in coordination to any untoward incidents. Additionally, the DC urged officials to conduct regular visits to fringe areas to engage directly with farmers, address grievances at the grassroots level, and report any required interventions to the district administration.
The second key focus of the meeting was the resettlement of IDPs. The DC outlined a three-phase resettlement plan, starting with locations where the law and order situation has significantly improved. She directed security personnel to identify suitable areas for return and flag those requiring enhanced security measures.
During the meeting, the DC also interacted with key officials, including the Additional Superintendent of Police, who shared inputs on potential resettlement zones.
Appreciating the collective efforts of security and administrative teams in maintaining law and order, DC Elangbam expressed hope that more displaced persons would be rehabilitated in the coming months, marking a step toward restoring peace and normalcy in the district.
Also present at the meeting were ADM Bishnupur T. Opendro, members of the District Level Security Coordination Committee, and other senior officials.
