Imphal: The Imphal International Airport is all set to introduce digital Inner Line Permit (ILP) registration process to facilitate visitors entering the state by air, the first-of-its-kind system in the state, said an Airport official.
“As part of the Government of Manipur’s initiative to modernize and streamline visitor entry procedures, the Inner Line Permit (ILP) registration and issuance process is set to go digital at Imphal Airport — a first-of-its-kind system in Manipur,” the official said.
On Tuesday, the Chief Secretary, Prashant Kumar Singh, along with the concerned team and the Airport director reviewed and tested the functionality of the newly installed ILP kiosk system.
The digital platform, which is found to be highly user-friendly, is expected to take lesser time for travellers, approximately three minutes to complete the registration process.
This digital ILP initiative is expected to significantly enhance the efficiency of the permit process and improve the overall experience for travelers entering the state.
Similar digital system is also planned to be installed at Jiribam and Mao check posts in the coming days, added an official.
It may be noted that Manipur was brought under the Inner Line Permit (ILP) regime in 2019. The official travel document is issued by the state government to allow inward travel of an Indian citizen visiting Manipur for a specific time period. Under the ILP, six kinds of permits are being issued in the state: Special Permit (for government contractors, investors, traders with business establishments in the state), Regular Permit (for frequent visitors), Temporary (for tourists, businesspersons), and Labour (groups brought by contractors, firms, or companies), Half-Yearly Working Permit and Annual Working Permit.
Also, besides at Imphal Airport, the state government has set up ILP check posts at Jiribam, Mao, Moreh, Jessami, Behiang, and Singzawl.
