Noney: As flood situations worsen in Bihar and India’s neighboring Nepal, Manipur’s Noney district is also grappling with its own weather-related challenges. Known in recent years for unpredictable weather and natural calamities, the district experienced a landslide and heavy flooding due to continuous rainfall.
Early this morning, a landslide occurred at the Awangkhul landslide point, between Awangkhul and Langkhong, along National Highway 37 in Noney district. The incident disrupted daily life in the area.
Meanwhile, since 1 a.m. yesterday, heavy rainfall has been pouring over Longmai Bazaar in Noney town, the district’s main market hub and lifeline. The continuous rain has caused flooding in Longmai town and surrounding areas, hindering daily activities. Power outages have followed, adding to the challenges faced by residents.
According to weather reports, conditions in the district are expected to worsen, with increasingly unstable weather forecasted. Temperatures are predicted to fluctuate between 26°C and 33°C. While the reliability of weather forecasts remains good, warnings have been issued for reduced visibility, especially in the early part of the day.
