Imphal: In a joint 48-hour operation, the Indian Army, in collaboration with Manipur Police, CRPF, and BSF, conducted extensive raids, delivering a decisive blow to armed groups in Manipur.
According to a release by the Defence PRO & Spokesperson for Manipur, Nagaland, and Southern Arunachal Pradesh, the operation led to the recovery of a large cache of arms, ammunition, and war-like stores in Churachandpur district.
Acting on specific intelligence, security forces on Wednesday, September 11, 2024, launched a raid in the Maulsang area of Churachandpur district. The operation resulted in the seizure of one 7.62mm AK-series assault rifle with a magazine, three medium-sized country-made improvised mortars (Pompi), and other war-like materials.
On Thursday, September 12, 2024, another operation was carried out in the thickly forested area southwest of Shejang in Kangpokpi district. The forces recovered a modified M-16 rifle, a 7.5-foot country-made rocket, a large country-made mortar, ammunition, and additional war-like stores.
All recovered items have been handed over to the police for further investigation and disposal.
The Army official added that these operations mark a significant step in neutralizing the threat posed by hostile groups and reaffirm the security forces’ commitment to restoring peace in the region.
