Imphal: Manipur Chief Minister N. Biren Singh on Saturday received the first food grains consignment delivered by train from Punjab at Khongsang Railway Station in Noney district.
The goods train, which began its journey from Dhuri, Punjab on the 6th of this month, carried 949 metric tonnes of rice in its 15 wagons.
Speaking at the reception program, Chief Minister N. Biren Singh expressed his appreciation to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for ensuring the delivery of food grains to the state via railway. He mentioned that trains carrying essential commodities had arrived twice before. He credited this achievement to the commitment of the Prime Minister and the hard efforts of railway officials, the Food Corporation of India (FCI), and security forces for the betterment of the people of the state.
He further commended the Central Paramilitary forces and State forces for their dedicated efforts in restoring normalcy and peace in the state. He expressed happiness at seeing people come forward to work at the railway station, highlighting the strong work culture of the people of Manipur.
CM Biren also stated that the State Government had been implementing measures to prevent shortages of essential commodities during the challenging times faced in the past few months. He noted that the State Government’s ability to serve the people was due to the commitment of the FCI, Railways, security forces, and the conviction of Central Government leaders.
During his visit to Noney district, CM Biren thanked the Civil Society Organizations, village chiefs, and youths of Khongsang for their support and cooperation.

It is noteworthy that 60 trucks from the FCI are prepared to transport the grains to Imphal with a security convoy.
The reception program was also attended by Water Resources Minister Awangbow Newmai, Chairman of the Hill Area Committee Dinganglung Gangmei, Deputy Commissioner of Noney Sharath Chandra Arroju, Assistant Commercial Manager of NF Railways (Lumding Circle) Dipankar Sarkar, Deputy General Manager (Region) of FCI Regional Office Manipur K. Satya Kumar, and Divisional Manager of FCI Imphal Adani Mao, among others.
