Guwahati: The Kuki Inpi Manipur has issued a public appeal note, announcing the designation of May 3 as ‘Kuki-Zo Awakening Day’. This decision follows a recent meeting held by the organisation.
The decision was made through an executive resolution dated April 26, 2024.
The Kuki Inpi Manipur urged all concerned bodies, authorities of the Kuki-Zo people, and the general public to observe May 3, 2024, under the theme “Kuki-Zo Awakening Day.”
May 3, 2024, it said, symbolises the first anniversary of the ethnic genocide inflicted upon the Kuki-Zo people by the majority of Meiteis.
Dear Reader,
Every day, our team at EastMojo travels through rain, rough roads, and remote hills to bring you stories that matter – stories from your town, your people, your Northeast.
We do this because we believe in truthful, independent journalism. No big corporate backing, no government pressure – just honest reporting by local journalists who live and breathe the same air you do.
But to keep doing this work, we need you. Your small contribution helps us pay our reporters fairly, reach places others ignore, and keep asking the tough questions.
If you believe the Northeast deserves its own fearless voice, stand with us.

“It will be remembered as a day of great awakening for the Kuki-Zo people from the ruins of the systemic persecution and oppression of our people under the Manipur state government towards revolutionary transformation of our land and our society.
