Kangpokpi: In the face of challenges including a government office shutdown in Kangpokpi Town and a directive from the Kuki Apex body to abstain from voting, the Kangpokpi district in Manipur witnessed a flawlessly executed first phase dispersal of polling personnel for the April 19 Lok Sabha (first phase) Poll on Wednesday.
Commencing at 7:00 a.m. at Brig. M. Thomas Ground Kangpokpi town, the crucial task was overseen by the District Election Officer, Mahesh Chaudhari, who also serves as the District Magistrate/DC Kangpokpi, and Manoj Prabhakar, the District Superintendent of Police.
The dispersal of polling personnel for the second phase is scheduled for Thursday at the same venue.
Kangpokpi District boasts a combined electorate of 103,563 individuals, comprising 51,184 male voters and 52,378 female voters across three assembly constituencies – Saikul, Kangpokpi, and Saitu.
Notably, the district hosts a total of 166 polling stations, with an additional 24 special polling stations designated for displaced voters, marking the highest such polling stations in the state.

Of the 166 Polling Stations, 77 are designated as “All Women Managed Polling Stations.”
Furthermore, specific polling stations, including 46/10 Thangkanphai (A), 50/5 Kangpokpi (C), and 51/25 N. Songlung, have been identified as Model Polling Stations, while 50/7 L. Songtun Polling Station is designated as a PwD Managed Polling Station.
