Imphal: Amid tight security, the Class 12 board exams in Manipur commenced on Wednesday. The higher secondary board exams, conducted by the Council of Higher Secondary Education Manipur (COHSEM), are scheduled to conclude on March 23.
A total of 31,343 students are set to appear for the board exams across 111 centres in the state. Despite concerns about potential disruptions due to the prevailing unrest in the state, the exams have thus far proceeded without any disturbances, providing a sense of relief for students like Anjali from Lamlong Higher Secondary School.
Anjali expressed a mix of nervousness and excitement about the exams, acknowledging the worry about possible bandhs or protests during the exam period. However, the current situation seems to be stable.
The Manipur secondary board’s date sheet for the Class 12 board exams indicates that the exams will commence with the English subject for students in all streams, including Arts, Science, and Commerce.
COHSEM has set a time duration of 3 hours for the Class 12 board exams for papers of 100 or 70 marks, with the exams scheduled from 10 am to 1 pm.

In addition, the board has specified that practical exams will be conducted by respective schools after obtaining approval from COHSEM. Practical assessments are expected to commence from March 30, 2024, and must be completed on or before April 20, 2024, according to the official notice.
