Imphal: The winning BJP candidate from Thongju constituency, Th Biswajit Singh, on Friday told EastMojo that the Congress does not have such strength to fight against the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
His statement comes a day after the BJP swept the assembly elections in Manipur, winning 32 seats out of the 60-member legislative assembly.
“Every youth knows how the Congress worked for the country. Now, the difference between the Congress and BJP parties is that our party has gone far ahead. They are not the party which have the strength to fight with the BJP,” said minister Biswajit.
Minister Biswajit also questioned the developmental work done by the Congress party before and after the independence for the nation.
He further asserted that the BJP would continue to rule the state for over 25 years. “Since long, we have been working together under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Through our work, we have touched everyone’s heart and brought many changes, including peace in the state,” Biswajit, who was re-elected for the fourth consecutive term from the Thongju constituency, told EastMojo.
On Thursday, after receiving his winning certificate, Biswajit thanked the people of his constituency for re-electing him and assured addressing the issues, including reducing unemployment and ensuring youth welfare.
Biswajit defeated the Indian National Congress’ Seram Neken Singh by a margin of 6689 votes in the 2022 Manipur Legislative Assembly elections.
