Shillong: The East Khasi Hills Police have announced a series of traffic and parking restrictions in Shillong ahead of the Cherry Blossom Festival 2025, scheduled to be held at JN Stadium, Polo, on November 14 and 15.
According to a statement issued by Superintendent of Police Vivek Syiem, the restrictions will be in place from 2 pm until the dispersal of the audience on both days. The measures are aimed at managing traffic movement and ensuring public safety during the event.
No entry will be allowed from several key junctions, including Lumjingshai towards CRPF Junction and Forest Colony, Lawmali Junction towards Polo Market, Golf Link Tri-Junction towards Polo, and Little Blossom School Junction towards Polo Market. Vehicles will be diverted through alternative routes such as Lawmali, Jainthep, Jowai Road, Mawroh, and Oakland.
Restrictions will also apply to left turns from CM’s Bungalow Junction and BJP Office Junction towards Polo. Other no-entry points include areas around B.K. Bajoria Junction, Shillong Commerce College Junction, Pynthorumkhrah Bazaar, and Wahumkhrah Bridge. Vehicles travelling from NEEPCO Junction towards DHS will not be permitted during the regulated period.

Traffic reversion at Wahumkhrah Bridge will also be lifted temporarily, allowing vehicles to move towards Pynthorumkhrah Bazaar. Movement from the Gurudwara Junction towards St Anthony’s College will be restricted, with diversions in place towards Lower Lachumiere and IGP Point.
Designated parking areas have been identified at Golf Links, Red Field near Golf Retreat, the road near FCI, the stretch between Tiara Restaurant and CM Connect Office, the area behind Raj Bhawan, the State Guest House, and MeECL Lumjingshai.
No parking will be allowed along key stretches, including CM’s Bungalow Junction to Polo Towers, Majestic Hotel to Polo Post Office Junction, CRPF Junction to Polo, Polo to 4th Furlong, Polo to Lawmali Junction, and Lawmali Junction to Lumjingshai Junction.
The East Khasi Hills Police have requested residents and festivalgoers to cooperate with the traffic arrangements to ensure smooth movement and safety during the two-day event.
