The city traffic police has issued a travel advisory for 8 and 9 November in view of the Indian Air Force’s flypast scheduled to take place at Lachit Ghat in Panbazar on November 9, with rehearsals on 5, 6 and 8 November. A large gathering, including VIP movement, is expected in the area, prompting temporary restrictions and diversions on several major routes between 7 am and 5 pm on both days.

Movement of commercial goods vehicles and other heavy vehicles will not be permitted on HB Road, AT Road, DG Road, MG Road, Bishnu Rabha Baruah Road and GNB Road during the restricted hours. Slow-moving vehicles such as handcarts, rickshaws and e-rickshaws will also not be allowed to operate between Machkhowa point and the Chief Justice Bungalow point on MG Road. In addition, only vehicles with car passes issued by the Indian Air Force will be allowed to use the stretch between Machkhowa and the Chief Justice Bungalow point from 11 am to 5 pm.

City buses travelling from Khanapara towards Bharalumukh will be diverted through GS Road and AT Road and will not be allowed to enter Panbazar via the railway overbridge. Heavy vehicles, including ASTC inter-district buses and rural service buses, will not be allowed into the city and will be diverted through NH-27 at Jalukbari.

Diversions will also be in place for vehicles approaching Panbazar and Chandmari from Bharalumukh, with routes redirected from Machkhowa via the elevated corridor towards HB Road or AT Road. Vehicles coming from Chandmari towards Panbazar, Bharalumukh or Jalukbari will be diverted at the District Library Point via AT Road. Light vehicles travelling from Uzanbazar or Latasil towards Bharalumukh will be routed through Planetarium Point, Lamb Road, FC Road, Tayebulla Point, GNB Road and District Library before rejoining the designated route near the Sessions Court.

Parking will only be permitted for vehicles carrying Red, Blue or Yellow passes issued by the Indian Air Force. No parking will be allowed on MG Road, FA Road, BRP Road, MLN Road, ARB Road, HB Road and TRP Road. Trucks and other heavy vehicles will not be allowed to park along TRP Road, Lakhi Gali, Chamber Road, SRCB Road, SS Road, Kedar Road and MS Road during the restriction period.

The advisory was issued by the Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic), Guwahati, and is intended to ensure smooth movement and public safety during the Air Force Day event, which will feature aerial displays over the Brahmaputra.
