Over 200 students participated in a combined hackathon workshop and e-sports competition held at Assam down town University (AdtU) on 11 July 2025. The event, titled “Code Conquer Compete,” brought together student coders and gamers for a day of hands-on engagement, competitive play, and peer learning.
The university’s Executive Dean, Dr Mahendra Kumar Modi, opened the event with a welcome address that emphasised the importance of creating opportunities for students to explore technology through collaborative and interactive formats. The initiative, hosted on the university campus, aimed to bridge the gap between academic learning and real-world tech application.
Participants from various academic backgrounds joined the event, contributing to an environment where ideas, skills, and strategies could be exchanged both in the realm of coding and in the fast-growing sphere of competitive gaming.
The day concluded with a prize distribution ceremony attended by the university’s Pro-Vice Chancellor, Prof Pranveer Singh, who praised the students for their participation, innovation, and spirit of teamwork.
In the Free Fire tournament, the top prize went to Team The Hustlers, comprising Suman Das, Jintu Basumatary, Partha Priya Bora, and Moyurim Boruah. Team X8 Falcons, with members Anuj Deka, Niman Deka, Akash Kalita, and Binayak Devaraj, secured second place, while third position went to Team Black Iron, represented by Ayush Gupta, Prince Kashyap, Meghanka Deka, and Soruj Deka.
The BGMI competition saw Team Xceeding Mayhem take first place. The team included Thanglienlal Saikia, Haolun Joel Misao, Satgunhao Lhouvum, and Kamminhao Kipgen. Team Xeng—Rihan Ahmed, Dhiraj Dutta, Elming Stone, and Zean Aqeel—placed second. The third prize went to Team Narcotics Esports, comprising Akash Rajbongshi, Sankar Barman, Deepsun Ingti, and Kaushik Boro.
