Kohima: The Chakhesang Students’ Union (CSU) has written to the Managing Director of the National Highways & Infrastructure Development Corporation Ltd. (NHIDCL), expressing strong resentment over the continued delay in the execution of the NH-29 Kohima to Jessami Road (Package 2), and has called for immediate termination and blacklisting of the contractor, M/s Ratna Infra Project Pvt. Ltd.
In a letter dated May 14, addressed to NHIDCL Managing Director Krishan Kumar, the Union stated that despite multiple representations and an ultimatum issued on May 2, 2025, no tangible progress had been made on the project. It accused M/s Ratna Infra of failing to carry out meaningful work even during the dry season, alleging persistent negligence, lack of urgency, and poor transparency.
The CSU said the contractor’s continued inaction, along with NHIDCL’s silence, has endangered public safety, caused significant hardship for the local population, and stalled socio-economic development in the region.
The Union said the delay has completely eroded public trust in both NHIDCL and the contractor. It has now demanded the immediate termination of M/s Ratna Infra Project Pvt. Ltd. for breach of contract and its blacklisting from future projects in the Chakhesang region.
CSU also called for a transparent re-tendering of the project and requested that interim maintenance be provided to reduce inconvenience to the public during the transition.
The Union warned that failure to take corrective action would be deemed as willful negligence on the part of NHIDCL and reiterated that it would intensify its democratic agitation until accountability is ensured and justice delivered.
