The Verdict [False]
Journalists and a local resident confirmed to Logically Facts that the viral video shows a November 2024 incident in Kilpada village, Bihar, India
(Trigger Warning: This story contains mentions of suicide and descriptions of distressing visuals. Reader discretion is advised.)
What is the claim?
A video showing the bodies of a woman and three children has been shared on social media, with claims that local Jamaat members attacked Hindu families in Giripur and Mymensingh, Bangladesh. The video gained attention on Indian social media as discussions on reports about violence against Hindus in Bangladesh escalated.
An X user posted the video, writing, “In Giripur, Mymensingh, Bangladesh, jihadists attacked Hindu areas house by house, raped Hindu women and children in some homes, and killed them.” The same claim has been shared on Facebook.
(Logically Facts is not linking to the video or its archived version due to its disturbing content.)

Our investigation, however, revealed that the viral video is from Kilpada village in Purnia district, Bihar, where a woman and her three children died by suicide in November 2024.
What we found
A reverse image search of the video frames identified similar visuals in videos published by City Halchal News and BC 24 News on November 7, 2024.
Both reports stated that the incident occurred in Kilpada village, part of Mugra Piyaji Panchayat in Purnia district, in the eastern Indian state of Bihar. The videos also included an interview with the woman’s husband, Ravi Sharma.
A keyword search led to multiple news reports confirming the incident. A November 6 Jagran article reported that a 26-year-old woman and her three children—a daughter and two sons—died by suicide in the Rauta police station area of Purnia district. The report stated that all four died at the scene.
A TV9 report quoted her husband, who said he returned home from a temple meeting to find his wife and children dead on the spot. The incident was also covered by Dainik Bhaskar, NavBharat Times, and News18 Hindi.
Logically Facts contacted TV9 reporter Mohit Pandit and Dainik Bhaskar reporter Akash Kumar, sharing the viral video. Both confirmed it depicted the incident in Kilpada village.
Additionally, Rauta police station’s Station House Officer (SHO), Gyan Ranjan, stated, “This was an incident of suicide.” A local resident of Mugra Piyaji Panchayat also confirmed that the video shows the same event.
The verdict
The viral video claiming to depict an attack on Hindus in Bangladesh is actually from Bihar, India, and is unrelated to any incidents in Bangladesh.
