One of the most recognisable actors from the past two decades, Chris Gauthier, has passed away. The actor, who was best known for his roles as Neville in ‘Need for Speed: Carbon‘ and William Smee in ‘Once Upon a Time‘, breathed his last on Friday at the age of 48.
The news of Gauthier‘s death was revealed by his talent agency, TriStar Appearances/Event Horizon Talent.
“We can confirm that our dear friend and client, Chris Gauthier, passed away on Friday morning, February 23, at the age of 48,” the agency said in a statement. “As a beloved Vancouver-based character actor, Chris shared his talents with so many of us both on television and in film. His loss is felt not just by his fans but by those of us who were lucky enough to know him more personally.”
Dear Reader,
Every day, our team at EastMojo travels through rain, rough roads, and remote hills to bring you stories that matter – stories from your town, your people, your Northeast.
We do this because we believe in truthful, independent journalism. No big corporate backing, no government pressure – just honest reporting by local journalists who live and breathe the same air you do.
But to keep doing this work, we need you. Your small contribution helps us pay our reporters fairly, reach places others ignore, and keep asking the tough questions.
If you believe the Northeast deserves its own fearless voice, stand with us.

Thank you,
