The Government of Assam, through its Skill, Employment & Entrepreneurship Department (SEED), hosted an Industry Meet at Radisson Blu, Guwahati, aimed at fostering collaboration between the government, industry, and academia. The event sought to drive innovative solutions in skill development, entrepreneurship, and employment creation within the state.
The meet began with a ceremonial lighting of the lamp, followed by the State Anthem. Minister of Skills, Employment & Entrepreneurship, Jayanta Mallabaruah, officially inaugurated the event with a keynote address outlining Assam’s vision for skill development and entrepreneurship. Senior state officials, industry leaders, and academicians attended, lending their expertise and insights to the discussions.
Dr B. Kalyan Chakravarthy, Additional Chief Secretary of SEED, provided an overview of the department’s ongoing initiatives. Subhash Chandra Das, Vice-Chancellor of Assam Skill University (ASU), emphasised the university’s role in bridging skill gaps and empowering the youth, highlighting the importance of academic and industry collaboration. The event concluded with a vote of thanks from Md Hanif Noorani, CEO of the Assam Skill University Project, recognising the contributions of all participants and encouraging continued engagement through networking opportunities.
The event featured three-panel discussions addressing key areas of collaboration between local industries, startups, external enterprises, ITIs, and Assam Skill University.
- ITI Ecosystem and Industry Collaboration: Moderated by SEED’s Joint Secretary, this panel focused on enhancing the ecosystem of Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) in Assam through industry partnerships. Panellists included representatives from companies such as TCPL, Schneider, Torsa Machines, and Skipper Limited.
- Shaping the Future of Assam Skill University: With ASU established as a state university in 2020, the discussion focused on aligning its skill development programs with industry demands. Moderated by Registrar Md Hanif Noorani, panellists from organisations like Autodesk, Festo India, and SAP explored ways to integrate skill-based education with higher education.
- Startups in the Skills Ecosystem: Moderated by Deputy Project Director Himalay Sarma, this session highlighted the role of startups in fostering innovation and creating jobs. Contributors included experts from Fuloni LLP, Necrafters, and The Unexplored.

A key highlight of the meet was the signing of Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) with organisations like Scientech, Festo, Honda CSR, ABB, and Janatics. These agreements aim to enhance technical training, create employment opportunities, and strengthen Assam’s skill development framework.
Additionally, one-on-one meetings with industry partners such as Siemens, Autodesk, and DBS Bank were organised to explore collaboration opportunities in greater depth.
