Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) has unveiled its newest Rail Coach Restaurant at Uzan Bazar riverfront, Guwahati, situated opposite Jahaj Ghat (Alfresco Grand). The restaurant, inaugurated on 2 December 2024, aims to offer a distinctive dining experience that fuses rail heritage with culinary appeal. The event was attended by NFR General Manager Chetan Kumar Shrivastava as the chief guest, alongside senior officials from NFR’s headquarters and Lumding Division.

This innovative project repurposes decommissioned train coaches into stylish restaurants, preserving a nostalgic railway atmosphere while serving the public’s dining needs. With this addition, NFR now operates 17 Rail Coach Restaurants across various locations, including major stations, all of which have received positive feedback for their unique concept and quality service.
The newly launched Guwahati Rail Coach Restaurant combines heritage-inspired design with elements of local culture, offering a visually appealing and memorable setting. Its menu caters to diverse tastes, serving snacks, beverages, and meals, making it an ideal spot for rail passengers, residents, and tourists alike. Positioned near the scenic riverfront, the restaurant promises to become a popular destination for locals and visitors.
