The Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) has inaugurated its newly upgraded cricket stadium at the NFRSA Complex in Maligaon, Guwahati. The event, held on 17th November, 2024, was presided over by Chetan Kumar Shrivastava, General Manager of NFR, alongside senior officials of the zone. To mark the occasion, a cricket match between the Open Line and Construction teams of NFR was organised, rekindling the venue’s sporting spirit.

Originally established in 1976, the stadium has hosted 33 first-class matches over the years. The recent upgrades aim to elevate the facility to meet BCCI standards, paving the way for hosting prestigious events such as Ranji Trophy matches.
The renovations, undertaken at a cost of ₹1.5 crore, include:
- A revitalised pitch and outfield designed for high-calibre events.
- A semi-automatic sprinkler system and fast-drainage mechanism to maintain optimal playing conditions.
- Plans for a state-of-the-art pavilion, currently under construction, to enhance the overall experience.
- Future installation of a floodlight system for televised national-level matches, elevating the venue’s profile.
