Guwahati: In a swift response, vigilant policemen in Guwahati foiled an attempted kidnapping on Wednesday, leading to the apprehension of an e-rickshaw driver.
The incident unfolded when a minor girl flagged down an e-rickshaw near Jyotinagar in the Bamunimaidam locality, intending to reach Chandmari to participate in festive Bihu dance celebrations.
However, instead of adhering to the girl’s request, the accused e-rickshaw driver, identified as Dipu Rabha, deviated from the intended route and headed towards Geetanagar.
Sensing imminent danger, the alert girl promptly jumped off the moving e-rickshaw in a daring bid to escape the clutches of the perpetrator.
The incident occurred in close proximity to the Geetanagar Police Station, where law enforcement officials were on high alert and swiftly intervened. They promptly apprehended the accused driver, ensuring the safety and well-being of the young victim.
