The Railway Protection Force (RPF) of the N.F. Railway intercepted smuggled hornbill beaks valued at approximately Rs 4 lakh during a routine check at Rangapara North railway station. The seizure was made during an inspection of train number 15613 (Guwahati–Murkongselek) Lachit Express on 21 December.

Based on specific intelligence, the Crime Prevention and Detection Squad (CPDS) of RPF Rangapara North conducted a search on the train.
