Guwahati: Technology Enabling Centre (TEC) of Tezpur University (TU), in partnership with the Robotics Society, commenced a three-day workshop today focused on Robotics, Artificial Intelligence (AI), and Entrepreneurship.
The workshop, aimed at fostering innovation and collaboration, will also serve as a platform for investors and Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) to engage with the latest advancements in these fields.
The event features notable knowledge partners such as I-Hub Foundation for Cobotics, Technology Innovation Hub-IIT Delhi, and BITS BioCyTIH Foundation-Goa. Distinguished guests at the inauguration included Dr. Ekta Singla, Secretary of the Robotics Society and Head of the Mechanical Engineering Department at IIT Ropar, Prof. Shyamanta M. Hazarika from the Department of Mechanical Engineering at IIT Guwahati, Mr. Rajkumar More, Founder and Chairman of Torsa Machines Limited, and Prof. Mrinmoy Kumar Sarma, Dean of Research & Development at TU.
Prof. Shambhu Nath Singh, Vice-Chancellor of TU, inaugurated the event, highlighting the rapid advancements in AI and robotics. He emphasized the transformative potential of combining these technologies, stating, “Groundbreaking research has combined AI into Robotics, making Robots efficient for the real world.”
Chief Guest Mr. Rajkumar More stressed the significance of collaboration between academia and industry to foster entrepreneurship in the field. He stressed the importance of parental support and nurturing individual aspirations. He highlighted the role of AI in creating new opportunities, rather than eliminating jobs.
Dr. Singla echoed this sentiment, emphasizing the growing contributions of robotics in sectors like manufacturing, healthcare, and banking. She urged attendees to leverage government initiatives like “Make in India 2.0” and invest in research and development in robotics, citing examples of companies like Tata and Adverb Technologies making significant strides in the sector.
Over the next three days, the workshop will facilitate discussions and collaborations between researchers, industry leaders, entrepreneurs, and MSMEs. The event is coordinated by Dr. Nayan M. Kakoty, Coordinator of TEC and faculty member of the Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering at TU.
