Guwahati: A two-day photo exhibition and outreach program, focusing on the theme “Freedom Fighters of North East and Poshan Abhiyaan,” commenced today in Phulorguri, Barpeta.

The event, organized by the Central Bureau of Communication (CBC), Field Office, Barpeta, aims to raise awareness about the sacrifices made by freedom fighters from the Northeast and promote health and hygiene practices.

Smt. Mousumi Chetia, ADC Barpeta, inaugurated the exhibition, commending the CBC for organizing the event. She emphasized the importance of such exhibitions in educating the younger generation about the freedom struggle. Smt. Chetia also highlighted the significance of Poshan Abhiyaan, stressing the importance of health awareness and healthy living.

The exhibition features photo panels depicting the freedom struggle and the contributions of freedom fighters from the Northeast. It also highlights various government initiatives, with a particular focus on Poshan Abhiyaan.

The event also includes a free medical check-up camp organized by the Department of Health, providing basic health services to attendees. Additionally, stalls showcasing locally made products by Self-Help Groups have been set up.

Smt. Sucharita Sahoo, Field Publicity Officer, CBC, FO, Barpeta, delivered the welcome address, outlining the objectives of the program.

The two-day event will also feature competitions like art, quiz, and extempore. Local artists and a Private Registered troupe under CBC, Guwahati, will perform cultural programs throughout the event.

Dignitaries present at the inauguration included Dr. Hasmat Ali, Joint Director Health; Shri Safikul Islam, BDO, Pakabetbari; Ms. Konkona Goswami, CDPO, Barpeta; Ms. Sunaina Das, DMC from the Social Welfare Department; and Shri Sarat Chandra Nath, retired teacher and social worker.
