Guwahati: A high-level delegation from the US Embassy in New Delhi, led by Graham Mayer, Minister-Counsellor for Political Affairs, concluded a two-day visit to the Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR) on Wednesday. The delegation met with Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) chief Pramod Boro in Kokrajhar on Tuesday. The visiting team included Senior Political Advisor A. Sukesh, Political Officer Dan Robbins, and Political Consultant Tinku Roy.
During their discussions, the two sides explored potential collaborations in critical sectors such as health and education, aiming to bolster and strengthen BTR’s ongoing development initiatives.
The visit reflects the growing interest in deepening ties between the United States and BTR, focusing on fostering socio-economic development in the region.
BTC Chief Pramod Boro expressed his enthusiasm for hosting the delegation, stating, “We are delighted to welcome Graham Mayer and his team to BTR. Their visit has opened avenues for collaboration and support. The discussions promise to foster meaningful partnerships that will contribute to the region’s growth and progress.”
The US delegation’s itinerary included meetings with local stakeholders and site visits to understand the region’s development priorities. Significant stops included the mini spun mill and the Bodoland Silk Park at Adabari, where they gained insights into the initiatives aimed at enhancing the local economy and livelihoods.
According to BTC officials, the discussions are expected to lay the groundwork for impactful collaborations aligned with the region’s long-term socio-economic goals.
The BTC government reiterated its commitment to forging international partnerships to achieve sustainable growth. “The visiting delegation’s insights and focus on development sectors like health and education highlight the shared commitment towards the socio-economic advancement of the region,” Chief Boro added.
The visit underscores the BTC’s ongoing efforts to integrate global expertise into local development strategies and marks a significant step toward strengthening ties with international stakeholders.
