NE Railway implements dynamic QR for Unreserved Ticketing System

Guwahati: In a first, the North East Railway has implemented the generation of train tickets through a dynamic QR code via the Unreserved Ticketing System (UTS) at the Guwahati Railway Station.

This initiative, part of a nationwide rollout across all railway zones, aims to streamline ticketing processes and enhance passenger convenience.

According to a railway official, passengers have welcomed this digital transformation, finding it convenient to obtain their tickets through the UTS.

The introduction of dynamic QR ticketing aligns with the digitisation initiative, focusing on three key aspects: Contactless ticketing, Cashless transactions, and Customer convenience & experience.

The traditional method of ticket generation through UPI (Unified Payments Interface) using a Virtual Payment Address (VPA) was often cumbersome for passengers. It required sharing UPI IDs with booking clerks, who then generated a link in the VPA application for payment. Subsequently, passengers had to navigate through the VPA application to complete the payment process before the ticket could be issued.

The implementation of dynamic QR codes is aimed to reduce long queues at ticket counters, promoting a seamless digital booking experience.
