Guwahati: In a bid to ensure fair and free Lok Sabha elections in Assam, the Election Commission of India (ECI) has deployed monitoring teams across the state.
The Investigation Directorate of the Income Tax Department, North East Region, has set up a 24×7 Control Room cum Complaint Monitoring Cell in the state capital, Rapid Action Team (RAT), District Monitoring Teams in each of the districts, and Air Intelligence Units (AIU) in all the airports to curb the use of black money in the election process.
The monitoring teams have been tasked with ensuring free, fair, and transparent elections by capturing the movement of unaccounted cash and its role in the election process.

The ECI has also released a toll-free number (1800 345 3596) and a WhatsApp number (9531460373) for the public to report any complaints or information about cash or other items suspected to be used for bribing voters.
The control room will receive information about the storage, possession, or movement of large amounts of cash or valuables.
