Silchar: A 22-year-old man from southern Assam’s Cachar district lost his life in a tragic road accident in Bengaluru, Karnataka, on Wednesday.

The deceased, Najmul Hussain Barbhuiya, was the son of Rayees Uddin, a resident of Harinagar, Part-III village near the India-Bangladesh international border in Cachar district’s Katigorah assembly constituency.

According to information gathered from various sources, Najmul had migrated to Bengaluru a few years ago in search of employment to support his financially struggling family.

He had been working at a private company in the city. The unfortunate incident occurred early on Wednesday morning when Najmul was on his way to work; he was crushed under the wheels of a tanker and succumbed to his injuries on the spot.

Onlookers attempted to rescue his body from under the vehicle but were unsuccessful. Subsequently, the police were informed, and a team promptly arrived at the scene. Using a crane machine, they managed to extract Najmul’s body, which was then transported to a local hospital for post-mortem, according to sources.

The devastating news of Najmul’s untimely death has left his family in shock, struggling to come to terms with the tragedy. The “Bengaluru Social Work of Assam,” an organization in Bengaluru aiding economically disadvantaged individuals from Assam, has offered assistance in transporting Najmul’s body back to his hometown, as reported by his family.

Local residents of Harinagar, Part-III, have expressed deep sorrow over Najmul’s demise and extended their condolences to the grieving family. They have also appealed to the Assam government to provide compensation to the family, emphasizing that Najmul was the sole breadwinner for his financially vulnerable household.

In a similar incident in December last year, a 37-year-old man from Hailakandi district, Dekajurai Misbahul Rahman Mazumder, lost his life in a road accident in Bengaluru.
