Jointly organised by the Government of Arunachal Pradesh and the Indian Army, the 2024 Tawang Marathon took place on the morning of October 24 in Tawang, Arunachal Pradesh, drawing a total of 4,580 participants, including 1,199 women, from 27 states across India and two friendly foreign nations. This year’s marathon highlighted the inclusivity of the event, with participants ranging in age and background, including an inspiring 80-year-old runner from Mumbai.
The marathon was graced by prominent figures such as the Chief Minister of Arunachal Pradesh and the General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the Gajraj Corps, who both actively participated in the run. The event, held at a high-altitude location, posed unique challenges for runners, with steep inclines and descents across the course, but also provided breathtaking views of the Eastern Himalayas, making it both a test of endurance and a feast for the eyes.
