Aalo East S/T Assembly Constituency organized a training programme on disaster management and response for 100 volunteers under the age of 31 for 3 days.

Smt Mabi Taipodia Jini ADC Aalo presided over the programme and addressed the volunteers. She instructed them to complete the entire training course.

The Galo tribe has been practicing the “langka” system since time immemorial. One man from the village is responsible for looking after the village all day, specially for fire safety. The fire safety system is still in force in Galo village. Disaster may occur at any time, so the volunteers should be ready to mitigate the impact of any calamities.

In her speech, ADC Jini urged the volunteers to remain committed and complete the training programme.

The training programme has been jointly organized by the District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) and the District Administration. The same training course will also be conducted in 30 Aalo West ST Assembly Constituency and 27-Liromoba ST Assembly Constituency. The DDMA will provide 9 days of training. The training will cover the understanding of landslides, heat waves, lifting and stabilizing techniques for casualties, and bleeding control during any incident.
