Agartala: Manisankar Murasingh, the talented all-rounder from Tripura, has received a significant opportunity to showcase his skills in the upcoming season of the Indian Premier League (IPL). Murasingh, known for his impressive performances in domestic cricket, has joined the Rajasthan Royals (RR) camp as a replacement player.
In an exclusive interview with EastMojo, Murasingh expressed his excitement about joining the practice camp of the Rajasthan Royals. He stated, “I have joined the practice camp of the Rajasthan Royals a few days back. I got the call as a replacement player. If anyone in the playing squad gets injured, I may get a chance to play for the team.”
Murasingh, a left-handed batsman and medium pacer, played a pivotal role for Tripura in the Ranji season, contributing with both bat and ball. His stellar performance did not go unnoticed, as he was honored with the prestigious Lala Amarnath Award by the BCCI in January this year for being the best all-rounder in the Ranji Trophy cricket in 2019-20. During this period, he scored 598 runs and clinched 49 wickets.
Former Indian cricket team skipper Sourav Ganguly praised Murasingh’s performance during his visit to Tripura. Ganguly, who was in Tripura for a shoot after being appointed as the brand ambassador of Tripura Tourism, commended Murasingh’s achievements.
Reacting to Ganguly’s remarks, Murasingh expressed his gratitude, saying, “This is a big achievement for any cricketer. When a great cricketer like Sourav Ganguly praises your performance, it acts as a morale boost. I think his appreciation has only encouraged me to work harder in the field and deliver more for my team.”
The cricket enthusiasts of Tripura have been elated by the news of Murasingh’s opportunity to play in the IPL. They hope to see him perform on the TV screen, representing Tripura on the grand stage of the IPL.
“IPL is a big tournament. Many players could secure a place in the national cricket team riding on their performance in IPL. If Murasingh gets a chance to play in IPL, he will open doors of opportunity for many Tripura players,” commented a TCA office bearers.
