Agartala: Reacting to the recent meeting of TIPRA Motha and Congress leaders at the state assembly, Tripura BJP President Rajib Bhattacharjee said on Sunday that no alliance could defeat his party in two Lok Sabha seats of the state.
“Two lotuses from Tripura are confirmed. It would be a return gift to Prime Minister Narendra Modi from the people of Tripura. This is the scope to repay the debt that he created through his welfare schemes,” the BJP state president told media persons.
On being asked about the meeting, the senior BJP leader downplayed the politically crucial event, stating that his party has no challenger in the forthcoming Lok Sabha polls.
“I don’t see any challenger for the BJP in the forthcoming Lok Sabha polls. I came to know about the meeting through media coverage. Leaders of two independent political parties can meet. They have all the right to discuss what they want. Our focus is completely invested in organizational fine-tuning, which is an ongoing process,” the senior BJP leader added.
The Tripura BJP president cited the party’s stellar performance in the by-elections to reaffirm BJP’s strength. “Alliance between opposition is not a new thing for us. The assembly elections of last year are the biggest example. Despite putting all their efforts, the opposition failed to defeat the BJP. The way the BJP governments in Centre and the state worked for the people, I don’t think we should see any opposition formation as a threat,” Bhattacharjee told media persons.
Meanwhile, the principal opposition TIPRA Motha has convened an extended meeting of the party state leaders at Manikya Enclave.
President of the TIPRA Motha party BK Hrangkhwal chaired the meeting. After the meeting, the TIPRA leaders visited the protest site where the party founder is supposed to start his fast unto death on February 28.
