4. Holi ke din dil khil jate hain
Every song from Sholay is classic, but this one stands out not just for the music but for its message: that on the day of Holi, we must forget our enmities and embrace one and all, spreading peace.
5. Ang se ang lagana
A 90s favourite, this song is for those who grew up watching Shah Rukh Khan and Juhi Chawla! The song may not be that great, but the playful acting of Juhi Chawla, Anupam Kher and Sunny Deol with a glum-looking Shah Rukh Khan makes it a nostalgic song. K K K Kiran, any one?
6. Balam pichkari
And finally, a modern favourite. The most popular Holi song of the last decade, this sign has everything: brilliant music, riveting lyrics and is sung brilliantly. Unlike other Holi songs that have a classical touch whether in music or words, this song is an out-and-out modern number that can make people dance anytime, anywhere: Holi or no Holi.
