In a significant development for football in Assam, the prominent construction company ‘Uttarayan Group’ has partnered with Guwahati City FC (GCFC) for the AIFF Futsal Club Championship 2023-24. This collaboration marks a new chapter for GCFC as they embark on their first campaign in the prestigious tournament, which is set to commence on June 22 in Vadodara, Gujarat.
Uttarayan Group will support GCFC throughout the championship. The team, placed in Group C, will face Ambelin Sports Club from Goa in their opening match on June 23 at the Swarnim Gujarat Sports University Indoor Stadium at 5 PM. The GCFC futsal team has been diligently preparing for the tournament under the guidance of newly appointed Head Coach Koncho Tashi.
“We are pleased to share the association between GCFC and Uttarayan for the upcoming AIFF Futsal Club Championship and believe that it will contribute immensely to the development of the game in the coming times,” said Uttarayan Group Director Deepjyoti Baruah.
CEO of Uttarayan Builders and Developers Ayussh Rathhi emphasised the importance of local business support for sports development, stating, “It is important for local business houses to join hands with local sports entities for the development of sports. We believe our association with GCFC shall go a long way for the upliftment of the game.”
