The miserable run of NorthEast United FC continued as they looked totally clueless against table-toppers Hyderabad FC and lost 0-5 in matchday 77 of the Hero Indian Super League (ISL) 2021-22 season on Monday at the PJN Stadium in Margao, Goa. Nigerian Bartholomew Ogbeche continued his marvellous run and scored a brace today. In the process, he became the all-time leading goal scorer in the Hero ISL. Akash Mishra, Nikhil Poojary and Edu Garcia scored the remaining goals as Hyderabad FC cruised to victory and further consolidated their position at the top of the table with 26 points.

The Highlanders were never in the game and it was all Hyderabad dominance since the first minute. Bartholomew Ogbeche broke the deadlock for Hyderabad in the third minute. Akash Mishra scored in the added time of the first half and doubled the lead, thereby scoring in consecutive matches. In the 60th minute, Ogbeche scored a brace and comfortably placed Hyderabad in a winning position. NEUFC tried a lot but never caused any real problem. They almost got their first goal in the 71st minute when Suhair Vadakkepeedika scored but was declared offside. Nikhil Poojary and Edu Garcia scored the fourth and fifth in the final few minutes to take Hyderabad home, comfortably. Bartholomew Ogbeche was declared the Hero of the Match.

NEUFC’s campaign this season looks all but over but Khalid Jamil and his boys will want to give their best in the remaining matches. They next play Kerala Blasters on Friday, February 4 while Hyderabad FC will play ATK Mohun Bagan on February 8.
