Guwahati: The Election Commission (EC) on Sunday announced the dates for the upcoming Lok Sabha polls 2019 to be held across the country in seven phases from April 11 to May 19. The counting will take place on May 23, the EC said.
The model code of conduct comes into effect right away across the country and will be in effect till the results are announced.
Polling for the eight states of the Northeast will be held in three phases — on April 11, 18 and 23.
While polling in Arunachal Pradesh, Sikkim, Nagaland, Mizoram and Meghalaya will be held in a single phase, elections in Tripura and Manipur will be held in two phases. Polling in Assam will be held in three phases — five seats on April 11, five seats on April 18 and four seats on April 23.

Phase 1 (April 11):
Arunachal Pradesh: 2 seats
Assam: 5 seats
Manipur: 1 seat
Meghalaya: 2 seats
Mizoram: 1 seat
Nagaland: 1 seat
Sikkim: 1 seat
Tripura: 1 seat
Phase 2 (April 18)
Assam: 5 seats
Manipur: 1 seat
Tripura: 1 seat
Phase 3 (April 23)
Assam: 4 seats
