Imphal: In a series of coordinated information-based operations conducted between August 2 and August 10, 2025, the Indian Army and Assam Rifles, in close coordination with Manipur Police, apprehended 22 active cadres from various hill and valley-based insurgent groups, said an official.
The operations, conducted across Bishnupur, Churachandpur, Chandel, Thoubal, Imphal West, and Imphal East districts, also led to the recovery of six weapons, Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs), grenades, assorted ammunition, and other war-like stores.
Key Highlights of the Operations:
On August 2, the Indian Army and Manipur Police apprehended an active cadre of KCP-PWG. Similarly, Assam Rifles and Thoubal Police Commandos arrested two active cadres of PREPAK (PRO) from Heirok, Thoubal, recovering two pistols and ammunition.
Likewise, on August 3, a team of Assam Rifles with Imphal West Police Commandos apprehended five KCP (PWG) cadres from multiple locations across Imphal East, Imphal West, and Bishnupur, recovering two pistols and live rounds.
On August 4, Assam Rifles and Thoubal Police Commandos apprehended a PREPAK (PRO) cadre in Haokha under Thoubal district, whereas two arms smugglers were arrested along with 9mm pistol and two rounds from Sawombung by a team of Assam Rifles and Imphal East Police Commandos.
Similarly, on August 5, the Indian Army and Imphal West Police Commandos arrested two active insurgents belonging to KCP (PWG) and KYKL (O) from Lamphelpat Yaipha Lekhai and Phumlou in Imphal West, respectively.
On August 6, the security forces also arrested an active cadre of KCP (PWG) from Ahallup in Imphal West and a cadre of KCP (Tamganba faction) from Yurembam in Imphal East.
The official also informed that Assam Rifles neutralised an unexploded 51mm mortar round near L Thinkangphai village in Chandel district on August 7.
He further stated that on August 8, in a joint operation, Assam Rifles and Imphal West Police Commandos apprehended a KCP (MFL) cadre from Haobam Marak Irom Leikai in Imphal West.
Similarly, on August 9, five active cadres belonging to different valley-based organisations were arrested in multiple operations, it said.
The Indian Army, Territorial Army, and Bishnupur Commandos apprehended a PREPAK (PRO) cadre from Kumbi Thingel Leikai while extorting.
Indian Army and Manipur Police Commandos apprehended two KCP-Apunba cadres from Phayeng, Imphal West.
Assam Rifles apprehended a PREPAK (PRO) cadre from Khabi in Bishnupur and Assam Rifles apprehended a UNLF (MPA) cadre from Toubul Mayai Leikai along with a .303 rifle, a grenade, large quantities of ammunition, and multiple magazines.
On August 10, Assam Rifles and Special Police Commandos arrested a KCP (City Meitei) cadre from Sadokpam in Imphal West, linked to extortion and intimidation activities.
The series of successful operations underscores the firm resolve of the security forces and all security agencies to maintain peace, stability, and public safety in Manipur, added the official.
