Imphal: Senior security officials in Manipur have dismissed recent claims of 900 trained Kuki militants crossing into the state as unverified.
In a joint statement, Manipur Security Advisor Kuldiep Singh and Director General of Police (DGP) Rajiv Singh clarified that the intelligence suggesting militants from Myanmar would attack Meitei communities on September 28 could not be substantiated.
“There is no basis currently to believe in any such input,” the statement read.
Despite the lack of confirmation, security forces remain on high alert to protect lives and property. Officials also urged the public to avoid believing in rumors or unverified information.
A separate statement from the state government further reassured the public, stating that any potential threat from armed groups appeared unlikely. Intelligence shared by the Chief Minister’s office on September 16, based on a leaked report, had raised concerns over militants trained in drone-based bombs and jungle warfare.
Security forces in the hill districts of Churachandpur, Tengnoupal, Ukhrul, Kamjong, and Pherzawl remain vigilant following these reports.
