The scientific community in the region is celebrating a significant milestone as Dr Faizuddin Ahmed, Assistant Professor in the Department of Physics at the University of Science and Technology Meghalaya (USTM), has been recognised as one of the world’s top 2% scientists for 2024 by Stanford University, USA. The prestigious list was published on September 16, 2024.
This is the fifth consecutive year that Dr Ahmed has been included in Stanford University’s esteemed list, which highlights the world’s leading scientists in various fields. His research, which focuses on Theoretical Physics, particularly General Relativity and quantum mechanics, has earned him international acclaim. Dr Ahmed’s academic journey and contributions to physics have been noteworthy. He has published an impressive 165 research papers in Scopus-indexed journals, including respected publications such as the European Physical Journal C, Journal of Cosmology and Astroparticle Physics, Scientific Reports, Annals of Physics, European Physical Journal Plus, and Progress of Theoretical and Experimental Physics.

In response to his inclusion in this prestigious list for the fifth time, Dr Ahmed expressed his gratitude, stating, “It is truly humbling to be recognised by Stanford University for the fifth year in a row. This achievement highlights the significance of dedicated research and the relentless pursuit of knowledge. I am deeply thankful for the support I have received from USTM and my colleagues.”
Dr Ahmed’s academic journey began with an undergraduate degree in Physics from Bholanath College, Dhubri, in 2006, followed by a master’s degree from Gauhati University in 2009. His passion for research led him to pursue a PhD at Gauhati University, which he successfully completed in 2016.
