Harvard University has maintained its top spot in the world’s most visible universities for the 2024-2025 Global University Visibility (GUV) rankings, according to a new report released by the GUV.
The ranking, which covers universities in more than 65 countries, measures how effectively each institution communicates its story to the world. It is calculated based on four primary performance indicators: news mentions, public interest, website visits, and social media.
For 2024-2025, Harvard University had a brand visibility score of 69.5 million, followed by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology at 53.8 million, Stanford University at 31 million, Columbia University at 29.5 million, the University of Oxford at 24.2 million, Cornell University at 22 million, and the University of Cambridge at 21.2 million.
The top ten most visible universities in the world are listed below.
By descending order, they are Harvard University, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Stanford University, Columbia University, University of Oxford, Cornell University, University of Cambridge, Universidade de São Paulo, Purdue University, and King Saud University.
New to the list this year is King Saud University from Saudi Arabia, which has seen massive investments across numerous sectors. The top American public institution on the list this year, Purdue University, improved one position to 9th place.
