The Department of Pharmacology of PIMCH took part in a training workshop on ‘Empowering Clinical Research’ organized by the PA Sangma International Medical College & Hospital (PIMCH) in collaboration with INFOCLIN Consultancy.
The workshop was held by the upcoming PA Sangma International Medical College & Hospital (PIMCH) at the University of Science and Technology Meghalaya (USTM) on July 4, 2024. It was attended by faculty, physicians, and students of the University. The training workshop emphasized the importance of Good Clinical Practice (GCP) in the conduct of clinical research.
The workshop began with a presentation by Prof (Dr) Subhinojyoti Bhowmick, M.D., FISQua, Clinical Director, Academics, Quality & Research, Peerless Hospital and B K Roy Research Centre, Kolkata. Prof Bhowmick highlighted the importance of the ethical principles of GCP and the need for them in the conduct of clinical research. He emphasized that the ethical principles of GCP are essential for ensuring human participants in clinical trials are treated fairly and that the results of clinical trials are credible and accurate.
Following Prof Bhowmick’s presentation, Prof (Dr) Anita Dakua, Associate Prof., Department of Pharmacology, PIMCH, delivered a presentation on the Sponsor’s Responsibilities. She emphasized the importance of the sponsor’s role in ensuring the accuracy and completeness of the data reported by the investigator.
The workshop also included a presentation on NDCT Rules 2019 and Safety Reporting by Prof Pinaki Chakravarty, Head, Department of Pharmacology, Tezpur Medical College. Overall, the workshop provided an opportunity for the participants to enhance their knowledge and skills in the areas of GCP and clinical research.
