The downtown school hosted its annual Science exhibition, Jigyasa on June 21, 2024. The exhibition included projects from students of classes 1 to 8th grade.
The exhibition was opened by the former Dean of the Faculty of Technology at Gauhati University, Prof. Pranayee Datta. Students from class 3 presented their project on the formation and evolution of the solar system. The project included models of planets, moons, and asteroids, as well as information on planetary movements and celestial phenomena.
Students from class 4 explored the concept of Pangea, the supercontinent that existed millions of years ago. They used interactive maps and timelines to reconstruct the gradual separation of continents and landmasses, which had a major impact on global geography.
The exhibition also included a project by students from class 5 that traced the evolution of human evolution from early hominids to modern Homo sapiens. This fascinating display used detailed dioramas and charts to illustrate significant milestones in human history.
Students from class 6 delved into the evolution of transportation methods, from ancient animal-drawn carriages to modern electric cars and high-speed trains. Their exhibits included working models and visual presentations that highlighted advancements in engineering and technology. The exhibition also included a project by students from class 7 that addressed the pressing issue of climate change through compelling displays and multimedia presentations. This project emphasized the causes and effects of climate change, as well as potential solutions for a sustainable future.
The downtown School’s Science Exhibition not only highlighted the remarkable talents of its students but also showcased the importance of scientific education in critical thinking and innovation. The school looks forward to continuing this tradition of excellence in the years to come.
